Can a man use eye-liner and mascara, and NOT being considered as gay? Is make-up wrong for a man? WHY ?

I am straight, and I think that a man shouldn't be ashamed of using powder,foundation,eye-liner,etc...

If actors and singers do it, then why the average citizen shouldn't?...Can a man use eye-liner and mascara, and NOT being considered as gay? Is make-up wrong for a man? WHY ?
Hi Allan, the reasons are quite complex and mysterious in part for me...

What comes to my mind is that our society has alwas been characterized by its machismo and sexism... Moreover our vision of the world is dichotomous many times, for example:

good/bad male/female beautiful/ugly heterosexual/homosexual and a lot of other ones...

According to the common sense, every element of the couple is not interchangeable and who ';lives'; between these, with no strong division, is not well seen, especially when we are speaking about masculinity...

In my opinion, the truth is that this view of the world is extremely limiting and doesn't match the reality... Our nature, our behaviors are infinitely more complicated...

Finally I have to say that our society is becoming more and more unisex and probably in the future we will accept the guys with eye-liner and mascara with no problem...

Happy Easter ^^Can a man use eye-liner and mascara, and NOT being considered as gay? Is make-up wrong for a man? WHY ?
A black kohl line under the eyes and sparing use of eye shadow can do for men so you do not look overdone.

For particular looks, you may try body painting on forehead and cheeks along with glitters.

Lipsticks in natural colors are good enough and it is better to use darker shades. However, the color depends on skin, eye and hair color and your hair cut and style.

Do not use the same group of colors for lips and eyes for example dark red lipstick and black eyeshade and never ever use black lipstick.

For photo sessions, replace foundation with bronzing gel on the bearded area. You can dust cheeks with bronze powder too for the sun-tanned look. Use only clear or sheer tint of lip gloss. Concealers, fine eyeliner line and black mascara may be used.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. There are men who wear makeup and women who won't touch the stuff.

It's the fault of gender roles and stereotypes that people think only women should wear makeup, and that if a man chooses to do so he's either gay or emo. Society is stupid.

Edit: Hah, thanks. What of these thumbs-down trolls? 卢.卢
A lot of heterosexual guys at my school wear eyeliner and mascara, but they are generally in the sort of ';emo'; crowd, or however you want to put it.

It's not wrong for a man to wear make-up at all.
Unless you're a drag queen I don't think anyone should be wearing noticeable makeup. Natural look is best. I don't like when people look like clowns.

I'm sorry - I forgot you have to agree with the person asking the question to get the answer right.
Maybe not gay, but certainly effeminate, but then again, men do wear earrings and all sorts of jewelry. I don't know, but I enjoy expressing my own gender. Personal preferences.
If it improves his image why not?

**Brings out his Mary Kay bag o'makeup**

Enjoy everyone. Go easy on the foundation..that stuff is expensive!!
Each to there own,it dosnt say on a eye liner pencil, for women only, and that goes for all make up.Go for it.
if it looks good and they like it, i dont see y not. i know some straight rocker friends wear eye-liner.
ive know men to be straight and wear that sort of stuff that sort of thing doesn't define your sexual orientation
